Commonly Asked Questions

  • Rock climbing routes are typically marked with different colored tapes to indicate the path climbers should follow. Each color represents a specific route with its own difficulty level, ranging from beginner to advanced. Climbers are expected to only use the holds indicated by the tape of their chosen route, adding an extra challenge and strategy to the climbing experience. This system allows climbers to choose routes that match their skill level and progress at their own pace. More information here

  • At Climb On, our route setting process is carried out by dedicated volunteers. Every Monday, these skilled individuals come together to set new routes for our climbers to enjoy. These routes typically stay up for approximately a month, ensuring a fresh and exciting climbing experience for our members and visitors.

  • When going rock climbing, it is important to wear comfortable and athletic clothing that allows for a wide range of movement. Opt for clothing that is flexible and won't restrict your mobility while climbing. While climbing shoes are recommended for better grip and stability on the rock, gym shoes can be used as an alternative. If you don't have climbing shoes, they are available for rental at Climb On.

  • Rock climbing shoes are specifically designed for the sport and differ from regular shoes in several ways. Firstly, climbing shoes have a snug and tight fit to provide maximum sensitivity and precision on the rock. They often have a downturned shape, which helps to transfer power to the toes for better grip. Additionally, climbing shoes have sticky rubber soles that provide excellent traction on the rock surface. These features allow climbers to confidently and securely grip onto small holds and edges while climbing.
